The foundation of health

Above all, it’s crucial that the body (tissue fluids) maintains an alkaline-base balance. Otherwise, due to a low pH value and high acidity, minerals and vitamins are NOT absorbed, no matter how regularly you consume them.

An acidic environment implies reduced oxygen flow to the blood creating favorable conditions for disease to develop (diseases). To avoid confusion, An acidic environment benefits the stomach and certain parts of the intestines for optimal metabolism, but only there.

In this regard, food is divided into acidic and alkaline, as well as moderately acidic and moderately alkaline.

This does not refer to acidity in the sense of organoleptic properties (taste), but rather to the state they induce in the body upon consumption. Lemon, for example, is a food that, despite its acidic taste, induces an alkaline state in our body, thus enabling acid-base balance.

Besides this classification into acidic and alkaline, depending on the energy the food itself carries, which depends on the method and region of cultivation, and then on the method of processing (cutting and preparation), there is also a conditionally seasonal division into foods that should primarily be consumed during certain seasons.

For instance, during the winter, fruits like apples should be consumed, as well as spices like cinnamon (I choose Ceylon organic cinnamon for taste and coumarin*), because they internally warm our body and stimulate an increase in vital energy. On the other hand, citrus fruits should be avoided or not consumed in abundance during winter, primarily because they reduce our vital energy level, which also affects our good digestion. During winter, the consumption of mint tea should also be reduced or avoided, because even when warm, it promotes internal cooling of the body and reduced energy flow.

“Acidic” ingredients include all refined foods, especially those of animal origin, predominantly processed foods, as well as refined (white) flour, sugar, coffee, and artificial drinks (often labeled “natural”).

The first step to balancing is to drink body-temperature lemonade in the morning, ideally with turmeric and/or fresh ginger, as it promotes acid-base balance, good digestion, and detoxification. Fresh ginger is excellent for the detoxification process, promoting circulation and eliminating excess fluids, while dried ginger has anti-inflammatory properties.
